Overview

The Truth About Trees is Apropos Theatre’s exciting work for family audiences. The story follows eight-year-old Alfie as he learns that paper, if made correctly, can tell the story of the tree that it came from. As Alfie investigates this, he realises that the local trees are going to be chopped down. He must do all he can to save the trees, and their stories, before they’re lost forever.

What we love about it:

The play engages with environmentalism, without being preachy. It never overtly says ‘trees are important’, but instead shows us why we should care about them. It asks the audience to reconsider their relationship to trees, and imagine what the world looks like from their perspective.

Who is it for?

While this work is made for younger audiences, there is enough in it for the whole family to enjoy. Visually, the play offers a lot. A wooden puppet, shadow puppetry, and three actors really makes the most of what small scale theatre can offer.
